Dear Mrs. Parks features a massive ensemble comprised of full orchestra plus choir and four vocal soloists. Influenced by blues, jazz, African music and Gospel music, it pays homage to Rosa Parks in the form of imaginary letters to the civil rights heroine.

I saw this concert, and it was beyond amazing. What a performance by Mr. Lokumbe and the Detroit Symphony!

I had the honor to be part of the choir who performed “Can You Hear God Crying” in Philadelphia on September 21, 2012. It was wonderful! This music is so very impactful I wanted to cry and laugh and sing and shout. I truly hope it will be presented again and I will be able to sing it again.
